Account Information
When you create an account, we collect your email address and display name. If you sign in with Apple, we receive your Apple ID identifier.

Usage Data
We collect information about how you use Mormonize, including scriptures read, questions asked, journeys completed, and badges earned. This helps us improve the app and track your progress.

Device Information
We may collect device type, operating system version, and app version for troubleshooting and analytics purposes.

2. How We Use Your Information

• Provide and improve our services
• Sync your progress across devices
• Send notifications you've opted into
• Analyze app usage to improve features
• Respond to support requests

3. Data Storage & Security

Your data is stored securely using industry-standard encryption. Chat conversations and personal notes are encrypted both in transit and at rest.

4. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We may share data with:

• Service providers who assist in operating our app
• Law enforcement when required by law
• Other parties with your consent

5. Third-Party AI Service (OpenAI)

When you use the AI chat feature with an internet connection, your data is processed by OpenAI (openai.com). You are asked for explicit consent within the app before any data is sent to OpenAI.

Data sent to OpenAI:

• Your message text
• Up to 10 previous messages from the current conversation (for context)
• Relevant scripture passages matched to your question

Data never sent to OpenAI:

• Your email address or display name
• Your Apple ID or account identifier
• Your device information
• Your reading history, notes, badges, or progress data

OpenAI processes this data under their API data usage policy, which prohibits using API inputs to train their models. OpenAI provides protections consistent with this Privacy Policy. For details, see OpenAI's privacy policy.

6. On-Device AI Alternative

You may use the on-device AI feature (powered by Apple Foundation Models) for fully private, offline processing. No data leaves your device when using on-device AI. You can switch between remote and on-device AI at any time, and you can withdraw consent for third-party AI processing in the app's Settings > Privacy.

7. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access your personal data
• Export your data
• Delete your account and data
• Opt out of analytics
• Withdraw consent for third-party AI processing at any time

8. Data Retention

We retain your data as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete your data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law. Data sent to OpenAI is subject to OpenAI's retention policies for API usage.

9. Children's Privacy

Mormonize is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

10. Other Third-Party Services

We also use the following third-party services:

• Apple Sign In for authentication
• Cloud hosting for secure data storage

These services provide protections consistent with this Privacy Policy.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. We will notify you of significant changes through the app or email.
